Through personal experience with investigating and designing these types of the projects, the speaker will discuss challenges associated with adaptive reuse conversion, long term maintenance requirements, and risk mitigation techniques as they relate to the building enclosure.

Presenter will discuss the unique challenges adaptive reuse and historic structures pose to below grade structures, exterior walls, windows, and roofing. The speaker will also show how computer modeling programs and diagnostic testing will help to analyze the existing building enclosure and assist in the design of the conversion.
