SUMMARY:Technical Dinner Meeting: Adaptive Reuse: Strategies for Success
DESCRIPTION:Adaptive Reuse: Strategies for Success \nImmerse yourself in the growing trend of adaptive reuse in our captivating presentation\, where we’ll explore the transformation of existing and historic buildings into high-demand housing. Our presenter will guide you through unique design challenges and innovative solutions empowered by cutting-edge computer modeling and diagnostic testing. This talk promises insightful takeaways for anyone interested in the future of adaptive reuse. \nSynopsis:\nThrough jurisdictional incentive programs and the rise of telecommuting technologies\, adaptive reuse of existing and historic structures is quickly becoming a more common project type for designers. Many property owners are looking to convert their old office and industrial buildings into the much-needed and more lucrative high density housing. \nWhile repurposing structures can result in distinctive and attractive housing options\, adaptive reuse projects pose a myriad of challenges to building design and construction.\nThrough personal experience with investigating and designing these types of the projects\, the speaker will discuss challenges associated with adaptive reuse conversion\, long term maintenance requirements\, and risk mitigation techniques as they relate to the building enclosure. \nPresenter will discuss the unique challenges adaptive reuse and historic structures pose to below grade structures\, exterior walls\, windows\, and roofing. The speaker will also show how computer modeling programs and diagnostic testing will help to analyze the existing building enclosure and assist in the design of the conversion. \nThe presenter will use project case studies to highlight the particulars of Adaptive Reuse. This presentation is intended for building owners\, designers\, consultants\, builders\, facilities personnel and contractors to examine issues and solutions throughout the adaptive reuse process. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Discuss how different jurisdictions are encouraging Adaptive Reuse.\n2. Review challenges adaptive reuse poses to the Building Enclosure.\n3. Evaluate various design solutions to address said challenges.\n4.Understand different challenges and risks inherent in rehabilitation and maintenance of historic structures. \nEvent Flyer PDF \nTabletop Sponsorships Available! \nRegister Today!
